Schuylkill County Begins to Dig Out of 2 Feet of Snow

After a 3-day snow storm dumped close to 2 feet of snow on Schuylkill County, the dig out begins.

The snow storm which began on Sunday and continued into Tuesday morning wasn't a record breaker, but certainly impacted everyone closing schools for 2 days and even most grocery stores.

Once all was said in done, boroughs like Ashland and Shenandoah recorded 22 inches of snow, Schuylkill Haven with 20 inches, and Gilberton and Mahanoy City with 18 inches.

Tuesday afternoon into the evening, the sound of loaders and shovels were all you could hear in most Schuylkill County neighborhoods.

Boroughs like Ashland and Minersville, road crews hit the streets on Tuesday afternoon to begin cleanup and removal of the snow from the main throughways.  

Boroughs like Girardville announced their cleanup schedules before the snowstorm began and others like Tamaqua and Mahanoy City announced on Tuesday.
