Four people are facing drug charges after an investigation and drug raid in Minersville on Wednesday morning.
According to Minersville Patrolman Jeffrey Bowers, while investigating drug trafficking into the borough, he learned through a confidential source that during the month of February, the address of 222 Carbon Street, Minersville had been "hot" and there has been a lot of drugs being dealt from the residence.
The information learned coincided with reports to police from neighbors, that the residence has seen a lot of "stop and go" traffic.
Based on the information, Patrolman Bowers acquired a search warrant for the residence from Magisterial District Judge David Plachko on March 2nd, 2021.
On the morning of Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021, at 6:40am, Minersville Police along with the help of the Schuylkill County Sheriff's Office executed the warrant at the address.
During the search, the tenants of the apartment, David Kohr, 24, and Emily Nicole Dougherty, 34, were not present, but police found a quantity of heroin/fentanyl along with packaging materials and several scales indicating that the both were involved with trafficking controlled substances.
Also during the search, police learned that a bedroom was being rented by Michael Kopinetz, 50,who was also not present. Inside the bedroom, empty baggies along with marijuana was found. While police were still executing the warrant, Kopinetz returned to the apartment and was taken into custody. Kopinetz was searched and found to be in possession of heroin/fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The search continued and another bedroom that was being rented by Jonathan Bowers and Annmarie Fetterolf, 27, was searched. Inside the bedroom, heroin/fentanyl was recovered.
While at the home, police learned that Kohr and Dougherty were out "re-upping" or refilling their supply of heroin/fentanyl.
Minersville Police Patrolman Harry Brown and Schuylkill County Sheriff Charles Dries found Kohr and Doughtery in a parking lot at 32 South Delaware Ave. Minersville and were taken into custody.
At the police station, Dougherty admitted that the two had travelled to Shamokin to purchase more fentanyl.
A search warrant was obtained to search their vehicle which led to the finding of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
As a result Wednesday's raid and arrest, Dougherty and Kohr were charged with 2 counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, 2 counts of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver, 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance, 2 counts of conspiracy to commit possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia,
Both were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison. Kohr was locked up on $25,000 straight cash bail and Dougherty was locked up on $50,000 straight cash bail.
Charges of Possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed against Fetterolf and Kopinetz through Judge Plachko's office.
