On Wednesday night, it was all Mahanoy during the Golden Bears District XI Semi-Final against Williams Valley.
With a chance to go to the Girls District XI Championship on the line, Mahanoy Area wasn't holding anything back and started putting pressure on the Vikings from the beginning of the first quarter.
By halftime, the score was 17-8 Mahanoy, with Williams Valley only scoring 2 baskets from the field the entire first half. The other points were scored through foul shots.
At the start of the 3rd quarter, Mahanoy pulled ahead as far as 15 points before Williams Valley got their footing and closed the score difference to 8 points by the end of the 3rd quarter.
Mahanoy Area wasn't having it and brought the pressure back in the 4th and didn't let up. At one point, the Golden Bears turned the ball over 3 times after stealing the ball as it came inbounds after a Mahanoy Area score.
By the end, Mahanoy Area would take home the win and stamp their ticket to Saturday's District XI Championship at Martz Hall with a final score of 54-39.
The District XI 2A Championship is set for Mahanoy Area and Minersville on Saturday, March 13th, 2021 at 5:00 pm in Martz Hall.
