Stephanie Jean Gerhard
, 66, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Wednesday, March 17th, at Carolyn's House-Hospice of Central PA, Harrisburg.

Born in Pottsville on December 17, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Edwin A. "Pete" & Jean R. (Felty) Gerhard.

Stephanie was a 1972 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School; and a 1976 graduate of Penn State University, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree.

She had been employed by The Call, Schuylkill Haven, and the Pottsville Republican & Herald, in the advertising departments.

Stephanie was a devoted and faithful member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven. She served as an Elder on Consistory, and Spiritual Council.  She was a part of Women's Fellowship Class, and she volunteered at fundraisers, and served on numerous committees.

Stephanie also was a former YWCA Board Member.

She loved her family, reading, and shopping.

Stephanie is survived by a sister, Rebecca "Becky", wife of Todd Boop, of Millmont, PA, nieces: Rachel Aslan, wife of Cem, Camp Hill, and Amanda Alpert, wife of Jeff, Harrisburg, step-nieces: Katie, & Lauren Boop, and great-nephews: Reid, & Chase Aslan.

A private memorial service will be held by the family's convenience.

Brigitte M. Zeigler
, 81, of Dark Woods Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Hershey Medical Center.

Born on July 11, 1939 in Plankstadt Germany, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Emma Fackel Schmeckenbecher.

She resided in Germany until she was 11 years old and then lived on the Island of Saipan until she was 16. She was a 1957 graduate of Central Dauphin High School and took secretarial classes at HACC.

She married Robert H. Zeigler in February of 1960.

Brigitte was a secretary for Halls Motor Transit in Mechanicsburg for 15 years, was a nurses aide at Bridgewater Senior Center in Pine Grove for 2 years, was the director of marketing/ kitchen at Twin Grove Park Campground for 2 years, worked for the Pine Grove Community Swimming Pool for 4 years, and was a secretary in charge of payroll for Manor Care/Lakewood Apts. in Harrisburg for 6 years.

Brigitte and Bob took their passion for bowling and desire to have their own business and purchased Pine Lanes Bowling Alley, Pine Grove in 1983, which they owned and operated for 23 years. The bowling youth program that Brigitte and Shirley Schaeffer headed, was recognized as one of the best in the state with over 150 children enrolled at its peak. Bob and Brigitte also turned a 40 seat lounge into a 500 person night club where local bands performed.

She was fluent in three languages, German, Chamoin and English, and enjoyed sculpting, bowling, crossword puzzles and took a lot of pride in her gardening and maintaining her yard.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 49 years, Robert H. Zeigler, Sr.; a son, Karl Zeigler; a sister Martha and husband Herbert Bertsch; a step brother Heine Fackel.

Surviving are her son Robert Jr. and wife Maureen Zeigler of Newport, RI; daughter Heidi and husband David Maidenford of Pine Grove; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing on Tuesday, March 26, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove. Graveside Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville with Fr. George Kochuparambil officiating.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Gary Marlin Koch
, 79, of New Ringgold, Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday, March 14th, at Geisinger St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg, PA.

Gary was born in Pottsville, PA on November 7, 1941, a son of the late Edith Kathryn (Walter) and Marlin Luther Koch.

He was the widower of Mavis Marie (Johansen) Koch.

From Penn State he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1963, Master of Science in 1965 and PhD in 1970. Gary was Professor of Plant Science at Fresno State.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Orwigsburg, PA and Trinity Lutheran Church, Fresno, CA.

Gary is survived by two daughters, Debra Abbott, wife of Brad, of Fort Collins, Colorado and Katherine Knight, wife of Ryan, of Clovis, California and his grandson Tristan Knight. Gary is also survived by his brother, Marlin (Bud) Koch Jr., widower of Ann, and nieces Julie Shanley, Jane MacDonald, Jennette Monahan and Jill Persiani. He is also survived by niece Kirsten Johansen, nephew Emil Johansen and many cousins and their families.

Laurance F. "Larry" Lynch , 67 of Pine Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at home.

Born Friday, May 1, 1953 in Boston, Massachusetts the son of the late Jack, and Ellen (Donga) Lynch. Larry was also predeceased by his brother, Paul Lynch..

Surviving are; his companion of 20 years, Rick O'Lear; sisters, Christine Behan and her husband Paul, Colette Ciampa; brother, Christopher Lynch. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews also survive Larry.

Larry retired as a lineman from Verizon Communications. He collected antiques, was a Jeopardy Wiz, animal lover, and avid traveler.

Peggy Showers
, 92, loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother (Gram) and GiGi of Tower City died Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at home. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Showers who died February 1, 1998.

Born June 29, 1928, she was the daughter of late Wilmer and Elva Stoudt Lebo. She attended Porter Township Elementary Schools and graduated from Tower City High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1946. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and volunteered at the local library.

Earlier in life, Peggy worked in the garment industry and later worked at Williams Valley Pharmacy until she retired in 1997.

In addition to her parents and husband of 51 years, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Theresa Ann and her brother John Lebo.

Peggy is survived by three daughters; Judith, husband Dana Michael, Halifax, Jill Merrick, Pottsville and April, husband Keith Royer of Douglassville. Six grandsons; Sean Michael, wife Kristy, Bradley Michael, Gregory Merrick, Stephen Royer, wife Mia, Jeffrey Royer and Eric Royer, wife Jordan. 3 great grandsons, Emerson and Alexander Michael and Adam Royer. Several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City with Rev. Harold Hand. Viewing will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the church. All CDC guidelines will be followed and masks must be worn. Burial will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Paul Foose
, 53, of Shenandoah, passed away at home on Thursday, March 18th, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Paul was born in Shenandoah, on May 26, 1967, a son of the late Alice (VanHorn) and Clarence Foose.

He was a graduate of the West Hazleton High School and Vo-Tech, where he studied masonry.

Paul last worked in the parts and tool department at Cargill in Humbolt. Prior to that, he was employed as a machine operator and maintenance man for the former Chromatex plant in Hazleton, and also could be found doing mechanic work at the former Harry's Gulf station in Brandonville.

He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 781 of Mt. Top.

When not working, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a talented wood carver and whittler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ira Foose, Alice Mae Kane and Donna Vale.

Paul is survived by a sister, Carol Garrison of Shenandoah, and a brother, Clarence Foose of Brandonville.

He is also survived by a great niece, Amber Lynn Polega, who was more like a daughter to him, and by a nephew, Eddie, who was more like a brother to him. A close nephew, Joe Polega, and wife Carrie, along with their boys PJ and Cody survive, as do many other nieces and nephews.

As per Paul's wishes, no public services will be held.
