Three people were transported after a crash in Mahanoy Township on Tuesday afternoon.
Just after 12:00pm, Tuesday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection of Vulcan Hill Road and Morea Road for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.
As first responders arrived on scene, a fire extinguisher was used to put out a fire that started on one of the vehicles.
According to Mahanoy Township Police Chief Brandon Alexander, the crash occurred as one of the drivers was attempted to make a left turn from Route 54/Vulcan Hill Road onto Morea Road.
As the driver made the turn, they crossed into the path of a vehicle traveling from the Mahanoy City direction of Route 54.
Both vehicles came to a rest off the roadway after colliding.
Both drivers and passenger from one of the vehicles were transported to area hospitals via EMS for their injuries.
Responding to the scene along with Mahanoy Township Police were Mahanoy City Police, the West End Fire and Rescue from Mahanoy City, Mahanoy City EMS, Ryan Township EMS, and Shenandoah EMS. In all, 4 ambulances responded to the scene.
