A blighted building collapsed in Mahanoy City midday Wednesday.
Just before noon, Wednesday, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of East Centre Street in the borough for a structural collapse.
Fire crews were eventually cancelled from the call but Borough Officials and Police remained on scene.
According to Mahanoy City Code Enforcement Officer Bill Killian, the building at 26 East Centre Street collapsed after deteriorating and being on the blight list in the borough.
No injuries were reported and the sidewalk will be closed in the area of the property until the scene is cleared.
According to the Schuylkill Parcel Locator, the property owner is a Tonya Stanford, of the Philadelphia area. Killian said that Stanford has been contacted without response in regards to the condition of the property.
Killian also said that Stanford could face charges as a result of the neglect of the property.
A contractor was on the way to the scene, according to Killian, to provide an estimate on the the cleanup.
