A month long investigation into alleged drug activity in the borough of Girardville led to an arrest Thursday morning.
According to Girardville Police Chief Fred Lahovski, early Thursday, a search warrant was executed at 204 and 206 East Ogden Street, Second Floor, with the help of local, county, and state law enforcement.
Lahovski said that the investigation began a month prior when neighborhood complaints reported an unusually high amount of traffic going in and out of the apartment.
The investigation, which included confidential informants and surveillance found that methamphetamine was being sold from the residence.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, Zachary Thomas Cyr, 28, was taken into custody on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Cyr was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $50,000 straight cash bail.
Another male was also taken into custody for having a warrant for his arrest in Northumberland County.
Assisting Girardville Police Thursday morning was the State Police Special Emergency Response Team, Ashland Police, Frackville Police, West Mahanoy Police, Shenandoah Police, and the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.
