A Williamstown man that was being sought for stealing a Williams Valley School District van last month was taken into custody in Florida.
On March 25th, 2021, State Troopers responded to the 200 Block of East Market Street in Williamstown for a report of criminal trespass. An investigation revealed that Gregory Daniels, 44, of Williamstown had entered a property and had been driving a vehicle reported stolen in South Carolina.
Daniels was spotted by police later that day, which led to a high speed pursuit and a foot chase into the Weiser State Forest.
The next day, March 26th, 2021, Daniels was said to have stolen a school van from the Williams Valley School District and was involved in a head on crash and an additional crash before fleeing. The van was later recovered in Dauphin County.
Since then, Daniels was on the run.
On Saturday, April 3rd, 2021, the Pennsylvania State Police at Lykens announced that Daniels was in custody in Ormand Beach, Florida where he had been involved in several incidents of criminal activity.
Daniels is currently locked up in Florida on charges related those incidents.
Daniels is awaiting extradition back to Pennsylvania where he will face numerous charges for the March 25th and 26th incidents.
