Late Sunday, emergency personnel responded to an apartment building fire in Pottsville.
Around 11:00pm, the Pottsville City Fire Department responded to an automatic fire alarm at 777 Water Street, the Queen of Peace Hi Rise.
Police and fire personnel arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from a 4th floor apartment.
A working fire was found in the apartment and was knocked down quickly and contained to the room where the fire started. Smoke was found throughout the 4th floor and other areas of the building.
As of 11:30pm, the fire department was still at the scene, clearing smoke from the building and doing an accountability check of the residents of the building. EMS was assisting at the scene.
UPDATE (11:53pm) - The fire was marked under control and discontinued par checks. All residents were accounted for.
