A Mount Carmel man is in custody and accused of killing another man with a crossbow in Bedford County over the weekend.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Bedford, Troopers are investigating the death of Daren D. Lingenfelter, 53, of Claysburg, PA which occurred inside a home on Railroad Avenue in Saxton, PA.
Troopers say Lingenfelter was struck with an arrow that was discharged from a cross bow inside the home and was pronounced dead at the scene by Bedford County Coroner Rusty Styer.
Alec Paul Rhoads, 24, of Mount Carmel, was later taken into custody at home in James Creek, PA.
Rhoads was charged with Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Third Degree, Criminal Homicide, and other assault charges. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Brian K. Baker and locked up in Bedford County Prison. Bail was denied.
