Eugenia G. “Bunny” Praskac, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, of Hazleton, PA and formerly of Tamaqua, PA died on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in Pottsville, PA. She was the wife of the late Robert Praskac to whom she was married 46 years at the time of his death on February 28, 1998. 

Born in Coaldale, PA on January 27, 1933, Eugenia was a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Bickelman) Edwards. Having graduated from the former St. Jerome High School, Eugenia worked in quality control at the former Atlas Powder Company for 42 years. A member of The Parish of St. John XXIII, Tamaqua, she was devoted to God and church. Eugenia had a smile for everyone and was always willing to travel to help and to visit family. She loved dogs and her “grand” dogs and enjoyed watching Duke University basketball and Notre Dame football. 

Eugenia is survived by son, John Praskac and his wife Diane of Hometown, PA; daughter, Patricia Balascik and her husband Joseph of Clarksville, TN; grandson, Erik Balascik and his wife Patty of Duxbury, MA; granddaughter, Kristen Riedel and her husband Peter Sullivan of Clarksville, TN; great grandchildren, Alex Balascik, Kate Blalscik, and Cole Riedel; brother, Edward Edwards and his wife, Sharon of Kingston, WA; and sister, Patricia Hess and her husband Bill of Dunnelon, FL; and several nephews and nieces. 

She was predeceased by brothers, John Edwards and Thomas Edwards and sister, Margaret Mary Urban. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Joseph J. Rollman , 61, of St. Clair, passed away Sunday June 13, 2021, at Geisinger Regional Medical Center, Danville PA.

Born in Pottsville, December 11, 1959, He was a son of the late Joseph and Nancy (Walters) Rollman.

Joseph worked at Miller Distribution, St. Clair. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Centre Pike Hunting Club, St. Clair, and the St. Clair Fish and Game.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Joseph H. Rollman.

Surviving are his wife Beth (Lewis) Rollman, one son Michael Rollman of St. Clair, daughter Carrie Rollman of St. Clair, 2 sisters Judith Vrabel of St. Clair and Ann Rollman of Mill Creek, 4 grandchildren Brik Hnatishion, Joseph J. Rollman, Dylan Hepner and Eyan Hepner.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday from the Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North Second Street St. Clair. The Rev. Msgr. William F. Glosser will be officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM Friday at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, St. Clair, is in charge of arrangements.

Nancy I. Hatter, 86, of Donaldson, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the St. Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born in Tremont, August 13, 1934, a daughter of the late Mervin and Mary "Mae" Graeff Miller. She was a 1953 graduate of the former Tremont High School.

She was a Judge of Elections for Donaldson and a member of the Donaldson Fire Company Auxiliary.

Nancy enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the casino and always looked forward to stopping to get something to eat at Wendy's.

In addition to parents she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Hatter, a brother, Robert Miller, and a daughter-in-law, Emily Hatter; a brother-in-law, David Hatter.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Merwin Hatter; three sons, Gary Hatter and his wife Sally, Donaldson; Mark Hatter and his wife Pam, Tremont and Ronald Hatter, Lickdale; a sister, Barbara Bohrman, Schuylkill Haven; sister-in-law, Linda Hatter, Donaldson; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Jeremy, Donald, Derrick, Shannon, Alaina and Alyssa; seven great grandchildren, Kody, Katelyn, Brendan, Brittanie; Sloan, Alex and Kylie; two great great grandchildren, Abigail and Kash. Nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating. Burial will be private in the Donaldson Community Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10-11 am at the chapel. Marjorie B Maurer
. age 87, of Seton Manor. Orwigsburg, formerly of Hegins, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Seton Manor.

She was born on Tuesday, August 22, 1933, in Hegins, a daughter of the late Robert A Schwartz and the late Hannah N (Huntzinger) Schwartz.

Marjorie and her late husband operated a family farm in Hegins prior to retirement.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins.

Marjorie loved to crochet and make homemade candy. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

Her husband Wilmer L Maurer, Sr, passed away in 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by a son, Wilmer L Maurer, Jr, and a sister, Eleanor Raup.

She is survived by four sons, William H Maurer and his wife Patricia of Midland, TX, Jay J Maurer and his wife Julie of Hegins, Joseph R Maurer and his wife Christine of Schuylkill Haven, and Dennis B Maurer and his wife Penny of Hegins; four daughters, Patricia K Engle and her husband Herb of Gratz, Lois J Baker and her husband Terry of Chesapeake, VA, Ann M Webster and her husband Glenn of Pillow, and Karen L Kissinger and her husband Tom of Boiling Springs; a daughter in law, Lisa K Maurer of Hegins twenty grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren; a brother, Robert W Schwartz of Gratz; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins, on Monday, June 28, 2021, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at the church.

Madeline C. Butala, 90, of McAdoo, passed away Monday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

Born in West Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Bartosh) Casper.

She was a member of St. Michael’s B.C. Church, McAdoo.

Madeline, along with her husband George, were the proprietors of Butala’s Bar, McAdoo.

Madeline was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Preceding her in death, were her husband George Butala, and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving, are her daughter Marilyn Woodring and husband Barry of Zion Grove; son Gary Butala of McAdoo; daughters Collette Gomber and husband Joseph of Bethlehem; and Lisa Macalush and husband Gregory of Nesquehoning; sons Gerald and George Butala of McAdoo; grandchildren Barry J. Woodring, Nicole Seymour, Christopher Woodring, Adam Stratchko, Jackie Paisley, Thomas Woodring, Courtney Gomber and Emily Macalush; four great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews also survive.

Her funeral will be held Friday. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial to be celebrated in St. Michael’s B.C. Church, McAdoo, at 11 a.m., by Rev. Gregory Hosler. Interment will follow in the parish Cemetery, McAdoo.

No public calling hours will be held.
