Over the weekend, the Pennsylvania State Police conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint/Roving along Route 54 in Mahanoy Township.
Troopers say that the checkpoint took place from 10:00pm, Friday, June 11th, 2021 to 2:00am, Saturday, June 12th, 2021.
A report released showed, over the course of the 4 hours, 45 vehicles were stopped, with 6 summary traffic citations issued along with 36 written warnings. No DUI arrests were made.
According to the PSP, a sobriety checkpoint is a traffic safety checkpoint wherein Troopers systematically stop vehicles at selected locations to briefly observe drivers for articulable facts and/or behaviors normally associated with alcohol or drug impaired drivers.
