A Mahanoy City man was taken into custody late Thursday after an incident in the borough.
According to Mahanoy City Police, around 8:45pm, Mahanoy City Police received report of a disturbance in the 1000 Block of East Pine Street.
At the scene, a man identified as Brendon Hasara, 49, of Mahanoy City was reported to be yelling and screaming at neighbors. When police spoke with Hasara, he wasn't making any sense.
For the safety of himself, Mahanoy City Police Patrolmen Rentschler and Smith told Hasara they were going to take him back to their station.
When checking him for any weapons, Hasara continued to make numerous statements that didn't make any sense and police advised him they were going to take him into custody.
Hasara began to fight with police and attempted to pull Officer Smith's taser from his hands.
Officer Smith was able to initiate his taser striking Hasara as well as Rentschler in the struggle.
The officers were able to get Hasara back to the station where he continued to fight with police and was eventually restrained and taken to Lehigh Valley Schuylkill in Pottsville for evaluation.
Around 1:00am, Friday morning, Mahanoy City Police learned Hasara was released from the hospital and was now at Saint Clair's Police station, still making statements that were not making sense.
Mahanoy City Police arrived at the Saint Clair Police Station where Hasara was taken into custody on charges of disarming Law Enforcement Officer and disorderly conduct for engaging in fighting.
Hasara was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bail.
