Man in Custody After Leading Mahanoy City Police in 12 Mile Pursuit


A Minersville man is in custody after leading police in a pursuit on Sunday.

According to Mahanoy City Police,  the incident began around 5:20pm, on Sunday when Mahanoy City Police spotted Larone Harrison Wonsock, 34, of Minersville.

Wonsock was wanted for eluding police during a prior incident.

When police attempted to pull over Wonsock, he attempted to flee again.

After a 12 mile pursuit that took place mainly in Ryan Township, Wonsock's vehicle was brought to a controlled stop by Mahanoy City Police along with Walker Township Police Department.

Wonsock was found to have active warrants out of the Schuylkill County District Attorney's Office and now faces charges of Felony fleeing and eluding a police officer, multiple felony possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, multiple felony firearms violations, and numerous other criminal violations along with traffic violations. 

Wonsock with be arraigned early this week on new charges for Sunday's incident. 

Mahanoy City Police were assisted by Frackville Police, Shenandoah Police, Port Carbon Police, St Clair Police, and PSP-Frackville and the Schuylkill County 911 Dispatchers.
