Ann Marie Urmanavage, 89, of Minersville, passed away on Wednesday morning at Luther Ridge at Seider’s Hill.Born on August 5, 1931 in Mackeysburg, Cass Township, she was a daughter of the late Aloysius and Anna O’Boyle Tobin. She was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School. She worked in the local garment industry, having last worked for Jackson Blouse, Primrose. She had a penchant for keeping a tidy, well-decorated home which she later shared with friends and family by transforming their homes in the same way.
She was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, Minersville; and a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John “Oogie” Urmanavage, for whom she provided loving care in their last years together; a brother, Aloysius Tobin; four sisters, Catherine Campion, Jean Albertini, Philomena Lipshaw, and Rose Koppenhaver.
She is survived by four daughters, Laurie Johnson (spouse, Greg), Magnolia, Delaware, twins Michelle Walcott (spouse, David), Marietta, Georgia, and Maria McMurtrie, (spouse, William), Pottsville, and Nancy Piccioni (spouse, Michael), Pottsville; seven grandchildren, Evan Johnson, Sarah Baumgardner (companion, Joseph Vitanza), Marissa McMurtrie (spouse, Daniel Howard), Amanda McMurtrie (fiancé, Tom Burke), Ryan McMurtrie (Liz Locke), Jack Piccioni, and Ben Piccioni; seven great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Payton and Wesley Johnson, Zoe Baumgardner, Julia and Samuel Howard, and Emma Burke. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Lavis, Orefield; nieces and nephews.
The family will be forever grateful to the staffs of Luther Ridge and the Overlook Program for the amazing and compassionate way in which they treated and care for Ann Marie – thank you so much.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Michael Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville on Monday from 8:30 A.M. until 9:45 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. The family prefers contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
