A Pottsville woman is still listed in critical condition after a hit and run crash that occurred on Interstate 81 on Wednesday in Mahanoy Township.
According to the Troopers from Frackville, the crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 129.5 in Mahanoy Township around 5:40pm on Wednesday.
Troopers say a Subaru Outback, being driven by Kaitlin Smith, 27, of Pottsville was traveling south in the left passing lane with a Black medium-sized SUV (Possibly a Chevrolet) in the right lane.
Also in the vehicle with Smith were Samuel Castorina, 27, of Pottsville, and Jaimylee Matthews, 21, of Fort Collins, CO.
The SUV reportedly veered to the left into the Outback twice causing the Subaru to lose control and roll several times. Smith was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The driver of the SUV reportedly stopped and approached one of the injured passengers from Subaru, then re-entered his vehicle and fled the scene, traveling south.
Smith was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest and is still listed in critical condition. Castorina and Matthews were transported via ambulance with suspected minor injuries and have since been released.
The driver of the SUV that fled the scene, is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, with brown or black hair, wearing a black collared shirt with a logo on the left chest and dark pants. The SUV should have damage to the driver's side front bumper/fender area.
Anyone with information on the vehicle or driver that fled the scene, should contact the Frackville Barracks at (570) 874-5300.
