A woman in Tremont was recently swindled out of thousands of dollars through a scam.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, an elderly woman recently received multiple checks from an unknown person.
The woman was instructed to send money back to the suspect in the form of iTunes Gift Cards. The women sent $17,000 to the unknown person, and when the woman attempted to cash the checks, they bounced.
State Police are still investigating the incident.
