State Police have released additional information on a fatal crash that occurred on Route 61 near Port Clinton on Sunday.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred around 6:15pm, at the intersection of Route 61 and Blue Mountain Road near Port Clinton.
Troopers say the crash occurred as a Guy Benedict, 68, of Kutztown, who was riding a Harley Davidson Softail attempted to make a left hand turn from Blue Mountain Road onto Route 61 south.
The motorcyclist traveled into the path of a Ford F-750 that was being driven by a 36 year old man from Levittown who was traveling south.
The Kutztown man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner..
The roadway was closed for several hours while the scene was cleared but has since reopened.
Assisting State Police at the scene were the Tilden Township Police Department, Hamburg EMS, Port Clinton Community Fire Department, and Union Fire Company.
