On Saturday evening, the Frackville Elks recognized those that have given back to the community over the past two years.
Typically, the Frackville Elks would hold their Annual Awards Ceremony and Banquet but due to COVID-19, the organization was unable to hold their 2019-2020 event. So this year's event combine the past two banquets into one.
Pennsylvania Elks State Association Vice President William Mack was Master of Ceremonies and with the help of past Exalted Ruler Albert Gricoski and current Exalted Ruler William Cickavage recognized the following.
The 2019-2020 Citizen of the Year Award was given to Christina Hale for her years of giving back to the community and 2020-2021 Citizen of the Year was given to Dr. James Langon for his years of service and his work through the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Members Andrew Szczyglak (2019-2020) and Stephanie Thomas (2020-2021) were recognized as Elks of the Year for service to the organization.
Lance Nelson, a trustee in 2019-2020 and Jaclyn Yanchulis, Tiler for 2020-2021 were recognized at the organization's officers of the year.
Denis Conti and Timothy Willingham were awarded the GER Outstanding Service Commendations for 2019-2020 and Joseph Paulonis and James Rovito for 2020-2021.
Since COVID also stopped the Elks from holding their Youth Award Ceremonies, the recipients were also recognized as well for writing.
Clara Easter, Nicole Frompovicz, and Brooklyn Shive received the Americanism Award.
Joseph McCord and Jacob Regnier received the Drug Awareness Award.
Jaclyn Mogih, Joshua Tuite, and Sarah Wagner received the Elks Scholarships.
If the students were not in attendance, their parents attended to receive the award.
The night was capped off with a dinner and music from Sakes Alive.
