Joel Matsko
, 66, of Vulcan, PA, passed away Tuesday, August 17th, while in the company of family members, at his residence.

Joel was born in Mechanicsville on May 6, 1955, a son of Joseph Matsko, of Allentown, and the late Rita (Mickonis) Matsko.

He was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City, PA.

Joel had worked as a postal worker for the United States Postal Service for many years in Pottsville then Scranton.

He enjoyed camping with his family. He was also an avid Eagles and Penn State fan. Joel could always be found washing and waxing his cars.

He graduated from Nativity B.V.M. High School Class of 73' and Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

He was the husband of Cheryl (Fegley) Matsko.

Joel is also survived by a step daughter, Nicole, wife of Matthew Brouse, of Ringtown, PA.

Joel is also survived by a sister, Rene, wife of Michael Petruny, of Allentown, PA and a brother, Eric, husband of Helen Matsko, of South Carolina.

He is also survived by 2 Grandchildren Lindsay and Logan. Nieces and nephew.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 10 AM on Friday, August 20th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating. Masks are preferred.

Friends and family may call Friday 9 AM at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA.

Daniel W. Fisher, 69 of East Allen Township, passed away unexpectantly on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg, Bethlehem.

Born September 17, 1951 in Ashland, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Willard H. and Giselle (Fix) Fisher. He and his wife, M. Bernadette (Greblick) Fisher were married for 52 years, two weeks ago on August 8.

He worked for Essroc Cement Corp. for 42 years before retiring.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Daniel Fisher and his wife Elizabeth and granddaughter Miranda and David C. Fisher and his partner Deborah Stevens and her daughter Betty, sister, Genevieve wife of Roy Manbeck of Frackville, PA, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by brother, James H. Fisher, and sister, Doris Oertner.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a 1:00 PM funeral service, all on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067. Interment will follow at Schoenersville Cemetery, Allentown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.

Apryl L. Lesher-Wallace, 54, St. Clair, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning at her home with her family by her side.

Born June 1, 1967, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Castiglione and the late Mary L. Lesher Harris.

Apryl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. She worked as a CNA both in local care homes and also in private duty.

Apryl will be missed by all who have were lucky to have known her, but she will be especially missed by her husband of nearly 4 years, Thomas Wallace, St. Clair; son Tyler Smerlick, Pottsville; daughter Brandi Kline, Pottsville; granddaughter Acacia; brothers Thomas Lesher, Seltzer; Joseph Lesher, Pottsville; Michael Lesher, Mifflinburg; and Antonio Lesher, Minersville; sister Dionne Harris, Minersville; and several nieces and nephews.

Genevieve “Genny” M. Shoup
, formerly of Frackville, passed away in the presence of her family, August 17, 2021 at the age of 88.

Born December 26, 1932 in Black Creek Township, Nuremberg PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha (Fisher) Foose.

She graduated from Black Creek Township High School in 1951.

Genny worked as a secretary for the former Pennsylvania Bedding Manufacturing Co. of Frackville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Shoup,. a brother Aaron Foose and an infant brother William Foose.

Surviving are her son Carl and his wife Debra, granddaughter Janene Ferrara and her husband Ronald, grandson Carl Shoup Jr., great grandchildren Jaron, Landon and Ralen Ferrara – all of Ringtown, a sister Gloria Lindeman of Hazle Township, nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be Monday August 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM – Noon at the Nice – Hart Funeral Home, Inc. 9 North Lehigh Avenue, Frackville, PA, 17931.

Graveside Services will be held in Nuremberg Cemetery at 12:30 PM with The Rev. Jay Serafin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Frackville Free Public Library, 56 North Lehigh Ave., Frackville, PA 17931.

Vincent H. Bound
, 74, of Primrose, Cass Township, passed away on Tuesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

Born on April 9, 1947 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Joseph C. Bound, Sr. and the late Eleanor N. Harner Bound. He was a 1965 graduate of Pottsville High School, where he was a member of the marching band and student director of the concert band. While attending Penn State, he was active in ROTC; and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections.

Vince considered his first employer, local contractor, John L. Strach, to be a mentor. He was a welder and mechanic with Boiler Makers Local 13, Philadelphia. He found a 30-year niche with his last employer, J. C. Ehrlich, Pottsville, where many customers referred to him as “The Bug Man”. He retired in 2010.

Vince enjoyed hunting, and was a member and former president of the Muddy Creek Sportsman Club, as well as a member of the “2nd Expense” hunting cabin. He was also a social member of the South Cass Citizens' Fire Company. He was most proud of his time as the Scoutmaster of Llewellyn Boy Scout Troop 100 (now Troop 600).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Carol Ann Bound, in 1946.

Surviving is his wife of 33 years, the former Laure Glunz; a daughter, Gina Neary, (spouse, James), Kirkwood; a son, Daniel Bound (companion, Andrea Matrese), Pottsville; two grandchildren, Eric Atkin and Lorren Atkin (fiancé, Joseph Bennett). He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph C. Bound, Jr., (spouse, Rita), Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, and William Bound (spouse, Karen), Vermont; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Monday, August 23, from 8:00 A.M. until services at 11:00 A.M. Donations are preferred to the Branch Township Booster Club, c/o 709 Maple St., Minersville, PA 17954.

Anna L. Shemansik
, 88, of Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Pottsville, passed away Saturday, July 24, at Opis Indian River Center, Melbourne.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Charles Shemansik, in 2001.

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Minnie Faust.

Ann had been employed by R&J Transportation for many years. She drove school bus for Blue Mountain School District and also was a tour guide for various chartered bus trips.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. She was also a 47-year member of Order of Eastern Star and a member of Orwigsburg Chapter 424.

Ann loved any type of dancing and was very proficient in ballroom dancing. She and Charlie just seemed to glide around a dance floor with the upmost grace and ease. Teaching line dancing while living in Florida was another one of her talents.

Her grandson, Dennis Hewes, preceded her, passing in 2016.

Ann is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Shemansik) Polyak, wife of Kevin, Shillington, and Sandra (Shemansik) Burns, wife of Tom, Pottsville. There are also four grandsons, Michael Marcolla, Kevin Polyak, Cory Burns and Brian Burns. Ann was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Clayton Demcher and Regan Polyak. Other survivors are her sister, Janel (Faust) Neyer, of Melbourne, and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Route 61, Schuylkill Haven. Pastor Chris Rothharpt of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to join the immediate family for this service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Anna Shemansik may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 W. Arch St., Pottsville, PA 17901, please designate to the senior coordinator fund.
