On Wednesday, St. Luke’s University Health Network announced the September 1st opening of its new St. Luke’s Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology in New Ringgold.
Endocrinologist Remy Mimms, DO will head the New Ringgold team. New patients are welcome.
“Schuylkill County is an area that has been underserved in regard to endocrinology,” Dr. Mimms said. “I’m excited to develop a partnership with the residents of this area to work toward the mutual goal of wellness and long-term health.”
The center is another example of St. Luke’s commitment to providing quality health care, including specialty services, to local residents. With the addition of the new Diabetes & Endocrinology Center, the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options will be provided for individuals with diabetes, pre-diabetes and other disorders of the endocrine system.
Through medication, education and support, the St. Luke’s team can help patients feel better, embrace a healthier lifestyle, minimize dependence on medication, reduce risk of life-altering complications and live longer.
Diabetic educator Kimberly Ayers-Bringhurst, MPH, RD, LDN, CDCES, will work with patients to develop a plan to manage their disease, eat healthier and become more active. The added support from a certified diabetes educator can often be the extra tool to help patients achieve nutrition, fitness and self-management goals.
Because diseases of the endocrine system affect multiple areas of the body, the team at St. Luke’s Center for Diabetes & Endocrinology works closely with nephrologists, cardiologists, surgeons, neurosurgeons, nuclear medicine, primary care physicians, radiologists, diabetes educators and nutritionists to provide comprehensive care for their patients.
As an endocrinologist, Dr. Mimms specializes in glands and the hormones they produce. In addition to diabetes, he also diagnoses and treats:
“We see ourselves as residents of the community and we want to see it thrive,” he said. “We’re invested in the community.
