A woman was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after crashing her vehicle into a home in Mahanoy Plane.
Just after 4:30pm, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 2100 unit block of Main Street in the Mahanoy Plane section of Gilberton for a vehicle into a home.
Police from Frackville and Mahanoy Township arrived on-scene to find a Chevrolet Equinox had crashed into the home with the driver trapped in the vehicle.
Police officers were able to extract the female driver from the vehicle just as fire personnel arrived.
According to Frackville Police, the crash occurred when the driver wasn't feeling well and passed out behind wheel. A passenger in the front seat was able to wake the driver, but that causing them to veer off the roadway, into a small tree, up a driveway and into the home.
The driver was reported to have suffered a broken arm and was taken to the hospital for testing to learn why she passed out.
The front seat passenger and a child in the back seat were not injured.
The home sustained heavy damage at the point of impact.
Responding to the scene along with police were the West End Fire Company from Mahanoy City and American Hose Company from Mahanoy Plane.
