PPL is reporting over 10,000 homes without power late Monday after storms pushed through.
Around 8:30pm, Monday, storms with strong winds and heavy rain pushed through the northern portion of Schuylkill County heading in a southeast direction.
Not long after, the calls began coming into Schuylkill 911 for reports of trees, wires, and poles down.
By 9:15pm, PPL was reporting 10,921 homes without power
The major of that list is within the Rush Township/Tamaqua Area with 8,074 in the dark.
Nearby, the Tuscarora area in Schuylkill Township was reporting an outage impacting 1,154 homes. The third largest was in the West Brunswick Township area with 637 homes without power.
There are also reports of parts of Route 309, 54, and 209 being closed due to the trees and wires down in the area.
The remainder of the outages are smaller in nature spread across the county.
Early reports from PPL was power would be restored by 5:00am.
