Max J Hollywood
, 28, of Saint Clair, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Feb. 15, 1993, in Pottsville, he was a son of Jennifer Hollywood, of Saint Clair.

He was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School and studied carpentry at Vo-Tech, leading to a career as a self-employed carpenter.

In addition to his mother, surviving are brother, Benjamin Kramer, of Saint Clair; maternal grandmother, Virginia Donetti and her husband, Robert, of Schuylkill Haven; maternal grandfather, James Hollywood, of Pottsville; two aunts, Jaclyn Hollywood and her daughter, Kirsten, and Virginia Bressler; nephew, Mickee; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St., Saint Clair, with Monsignor William Glosser officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to defray funeral costs.

John J. Burns, 93, Girardville passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 28th at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Mass of Christian Burial and interment will be private.

Memorial contributions can be made, in John’s name, to the Carmelites Holy Annunciation Monastery at 403 W County Rd, Sugarloaf, PA 18249.

Mary Elizabeth “Marybeth” (Courtnye) O’Donnell
, 61, of Ashland, passed away peacefully early Saturday afternoon, Sept. 25, 2021, at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center.

Born in Philadelphia, June 8, 1960, she was a daughter of the late James F. and Elizabeth B. (Scullion) Courtnye.

She was a 1978 graduate of Cardinal Brennan High School and of Schuylkill Institute of Business & Technology.
She had been employed by Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, in the early 2000s. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen M. Campomizzi; brother, James F. Courtnye Jr.; father-in-law, Edward O’Donnell Sr; brothers-in-law, Shawn O’Donnell and Brian Calderwood; stepmother, Doris J. Blazejewski Courtnye.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Edward O’Donnell Jr.; son, Edward III; daughter, Kayla; granddaughter, Kiara; sister, DorisJean Calderwood; brothers, James Blazejewski and George Courtnye;

Mother in law Ruth Ann O'Donnell brothers-in-law, Gerald Campomizzi, James O’Donnell and Antoine Jones; sisters-in-law, Lisa Sharp & her fiance' Kenny and Susan Blazejewski; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins; her beloved dog, Mia. Mass of the Christian burial will be held Thursday, Oct. 7,2021 at 11:00 AM

Joann L. Schropp, 75, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Monday, September 27th, 2021 at Lehigh Valley East Norwegian, Pottsville.

Joann was born in Mahanoy City, PA on June 26, 1946, a daughter of the late Anna Pauzus and William Peel.

She was generally employed in home health care and as a CNA.

She enjoyed watching Life Time movies, gardening, socializing and beer parties when she was younger.

She was married to the late Joseph P. Schropp on October 9th,1965 in St. Peter's Church located in Reading, Pa. Joseph passed on July 21st, 1995.

Joann is survived by her Daughter, Debbi Didyoung, of Mahanoy City; and her Son, Mark Benfer, who is now married to Susan Benfer, of Mifflinburg, Pa; Her Sister, Priscilla Rzeplinski wife of Joseph Rzeplinski, of Mahanoy City and two Brothers, Albert, husband of Toni, of Michigan; Bill, husband of late Wife Leona, of Arizona, 2 Grandchildren, Shelby Watkins and Andy Benfer.

Interment at St Joseph Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.

Michael James Kerestus Jr.
, age 70, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the home of his daughter.

Mike was born July 10, 1951 at Locust Mountain Hospital, Shenandoah Heights, PA. Originally from Robinsons Patch, Michael soon moved to Mahanoy City, where he lived the rest of his life. A 1969 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School, Mike worked for Diversified Metals, Hometown; Zapata, Frackville; and finally Honeywell, Pottsville from which he retired.

Michael married the love of his life, Peggy Pringle, in 1972 and were married 47 years until her untimely passing in 2019. Together they raised four children of their own, along with countless neighborhood children who always felt welcome to come by day or night. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and was always willing to take any children fishing, shooting, and hiking the hills around Mahanoy City in order to share his love of nature. From his youngest days, Michael was always striving to improve his skills at hunting, fishing, trapping, archery, and knowing the best places to gather berries and mushrooms. He was truly a mountain man.

In addition to his wife, Michael was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Margaret (Wilson) Kerestus Sr., and beloved granddaughter Jazmyn Hauck. Mike is survived by his children James and Estelle, Minersville; Karrie, New Ringgold; Kathy and John Watkins, Bear Creek; Joel, Mahanoy City; and by brothers Kenneth and Pauline, Schnecksville; and Kevin and Lisa, McAdoo. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Kaylee, Paige, Cameron, Allison, John, and Mason.

Everyone is invited to the interment services Monday, October 4, 2021 at 11am at Sky View Cemetery, Hometown, PA.
