Kelly Kaczmarczyk, 44, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Thursday, October 28th, at home.

Kelly was born in Mahanoy City, on September 16, 1977, a daughter of Nancy (Sheehan) and Stephen Kaczmarczyk

She graduated from Mahanoy Area High School class of 1995. She also graduated from Lehigh County Community College as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

She loved spending time with her daughter Mackenzie, and her nieces and nephews. Kelly loved arts and crafts and could spend hours shopping at Walmart and not buy anything. She always loved hanging out with her family and friends. You could always count on Kelly to be late for anything. You could always expect the unexpected with Kelly.

Kelly is survived by a daughter, Mackenzie Kaczmarczyk, of Mahanoy City; and by a sister, Amy Peel, of Mahanoy City; a brother, Stephen, husband of Patti Kaczmarczyk, of Springfield New Jersey. Also nieces Avery and Addyson Peel, and nephews Owen Kaczmarczyk and Logan Peel.

She is preceded in death by her partner Melinda Wall and her brother in law Dustin Peel.

Religious Service will take place at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 am on Friday, November 5th, with Deacon David Henninger officiating.

Friend and family may call Friday November 5th, 9 to 11 am at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.

Family prefers donations be made to the Kelly Kaczmarczyk Memorial Fund.

Kathryn L. Maurer
, 94 of Pitman passed away after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late William "Bill" Maurer.

Born in Paxinos, she was the daughter of the late George and Katie (Kehler) Snyder. She had 15 siblings of which 14 have passed away. Surviving is one sister, Pauline Rogers of Penn Yan, New York and 1 brother-in-law Lucien Morin of Rochester, NY.

She was a homemaker and worked for many years with local farmers. Before marrying Bill, she briefly worked in the local garment factory and sewed war parachutes in the late 1940's.

She was of the Protestant faith and had been a member of the Zion E.C. Church.

She attended Mount Union School in Overlook.

She is survived by her 5 loving children, William and his wife Janellen, Kathy and her husband Denis Hackney, Sheila Leininger, Gary and his wife Tara, Rick and his wife Starla.

Surviving are grandchildren, William Maurer and his wife Shianne, Christopher Maurer, Sheila Jo Leininger, Jackie Lee Gauker, Nikki Leininger, Kathryn Maurer, Rachel Maurer, Linnea and Theodore Morgan, Josh Stafford.

Great grandchildren Mahlon and Eli Maurer, Shyla and Ezekial 'Bud' Lucas, Harper Snyder, Toby Herring, Nikita and Sophia Merwine, Victoria and Dominic Albrittain, Lila and Chloe Morgan, Taya Call, Abigail ,Faith and Mikaila Stafford.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn had an especially close bond to her great granddaughter, Shyla Lucas, who lovingly and devotedly helped to care for her in her later years, and who always made her laugh and smile.

She loved life, people and animals, and she will be greatly missed.

Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date.

Stella Theresa “Tessie” Trubilla, 86, of Coaldale, PA, died on Friday October 29, 2021 in Schuylkill Haven, PA. She was the wife of the late Alexander Trubilla to whom she was married 57 years at the time of his death in 2012. 

Born in Mahanoy Plane, PA on November 7, 1934, Stella was a daughter of the late Alex and Catherine Sedor. A 1952 graduate of the former Gilberton High School, she also attended McCann School of Business for 2 years. Stella was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford, PA. A flower and plant lover, she enjoyed spending time in her backyard where she fed the birds. 

Stella is survived by daughters, Theresa Rose Szuhay and her husband Andrew of Hometown, PA and Patricia Ann Dreyer and her husband, Steven of McAdoo, PA; son, Russell John Trubilla and his wife Lisa Lyn of Coaldale; grandchildren, Steven Patrick Dreyer, Andrew Alexander Szuhay, Zachary John Trubilla, Jacob Michael Trubilla, Sadie Lyn Trubilla, and Thomas Alexander Smith; and brother, Joseph Sedor of Delran, NJ. She was predeceased by daughter, Alexis Mary Smith in 2005; brothers, John Sedor, Sr. and Michael Sedor; and sisters, Helen Diamond, Mary Hund, Anna Letunic, Anastasia Coulson, Sophie Sedor, and Julie Sedor. 

Funeral service with Divine Liturgy will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 104 East Bertsch Street, Lansford, PA with The Rev. Dr. Vasyl Chepelskyy officiating. Interment in St. Mary Russian Orthodox Church Cemetery, Summit Hill will follow the services. Call 6-8 PM on Tuesday, November 2, at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua and 10-11 AM on Wednesday, November 3 in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church, Lansford. Parastas will be held at 7:30 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Kathryn Ann Leffler
, 58, of Covered Bridge Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Hershey Medical Center.

Born on October 30, 1962 in Pottsville, she was a daughter of Rosemary Kramer of Pine Grove and the late Dale Kramer.

She was a 1980 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School where she was Valedictorian and a 1984 graduate of Albright College, Reading with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Kathryn was a Registered Nurse and worked for the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon, St. Joseph's Hospital in Lancaster, ECC Retirement Village in Myerstown, Pine Grove Area School District and the Tremont Health & Rehab.

She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Pine Grove, a member of the PGA Elementary School PTO for 7 years serving 5 years as President, Brownie Leader for 7 years, Vacation Bible School Coordinator and Director for 5 years, Girls Soccer Boosters, and Room Mother/Volunteer during the elementary years of her three children.

Kathryn was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She took pride and joy in her family, as they always came first in her life. She loved reading books, playing games with family, watching movies, and her time spent with her family in Disney World. She was the kindest, most loving woman in her family's lives, and she will be greatly missed.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband of 37 years, Tim Leffler; two daughters, Devin and husband Mike Wright of Carlisle, Kate Leffler of Ann Arbor, MI; a son, Zach Leffler of Pine Grove; a grandson, Carson Wright; and brother, Scott and his wife Malena Kramer of Lancaster.

All Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital Memorial Giving 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory.

Mr. John B. Ellis
, age 80, of Frackville and formerly of Mahanoy City, passed away Friday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill in Pottsville. 

Born in New Boston, he was the son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Getz) Ellis. A life long devote catholic John was an active parishioner of St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. He graduated from Mahanoy Township High School in 1959, and served six years in the Army before starting his career at Altadis Tobacco Company in McAdoo. He was a member of American Legion Post 74 in Mahanoy City. John enjoyed hunting, golfing, and shooting darts. He also loved providing the elderly and infirmed of the area nursing homes such as Hometown Nursing home with frequent visits and rosary prayer sessions with the residents. 

His wife the former Mary Barnish and two brothers Andrew and Lawrence Ellis Sr. preceded John in death. 

His loving companion Mary Joan Cauley survives him, as well as nieces Angela Gress-Gurr of Virginia, Susan Enriquez of Nevada, and a nephew Lawrence Ellis Jr. of Virginia. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher on Wednesday morning at 10 AM from St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. Masks are required. Interment with military honors will follow in Assumption BVM Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday morning beginning at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flower's contribution's in John's name to St. Teresa of Calcutta Church would be appreciated by the family.

Steven P Johnson Sr.
, 59 of Mahanoy City, passed away on Thursday October 28th at Geisinger Medical Center Danville.

He was born on July 9th, 1962 in Harrisburg hospital. He was the son of the late Gilbert and Helen Mooney Johnson.

He worked as a cook at Long John Silvers for many years and other fast food restaurants.

Steven loved life and being outdoors. Everyone loved him. He also loved his dog snow (Snowzy). He enjoyed watching TV especially wrestling and seeing it in person. He loved spending time with his family and friends and neighbors. He loved playing video games and cards with his son. He would always watch the Philadelphia Eagles play when they were on TV. Steve loved fishing as well. The best times were spending times with family and friends going to Knoebels, Gettysburg, New Jersey shore, Hershey sweet lights, family outings, and spending the holidays with family and friends.

He is survived by a son Steven Johnson junior of Mahanoy City, Amanda Johnson of Bloomsburg, Englishmay Johnson of Bloomsburg, and Michael Snyder of Girardville. And stepchildren Jessica Maurer of Mahoney City, Julia Larkin of Catasauqua, James Dellock of Frackville, brothers Tim Johnson of Millersburg, Brad Johnson of Saint Clair also many grandchildren, step grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded and death by a brother Douglas Johnson.

Pamela S Bixler
, age 49, of Grantville, formerly of Valley View, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at the home of her companion in Millerstown.

She was born on Wednesday, January 19, 1972, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Delphin H Mauser and the late Norma F (Boyer) Mauser.

She was a 1990 graduate of Tri-Valley High School. She also studied electronics technology at South Area Vocational School, Mar Lin and received her bachelor degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University.

Pam served for twenty years in the Army National Guard. She served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraq Freedom during her time of service.

She was a Technician 3 at Indiantown Gap Military Reserve.

Pam was a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a son, Ray A Bixler.

She is survived by a daughter, Katie L Bixler of Valley View; a sister, Kathy Colwell of New Castle, CA; and her companion, Timothy Goodling of Millerstown.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Anthony J "Tony" Smyk
, age 69, of Hegins, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - E Norwegian, Pottsville.

He was born on Wednesday, April 2, 1952, in Lykens, a son of the late Michael Smyk and the late Helen (Reightler) Smyk.

He was a 1970 graduate Williams Valley High School and a graduate of Williamson Trade School, Media.

He was a maintence/machinist for Tyco Electronics, Lickdale, prior to his retirement.

He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View.

He was also a member of FandAM Valley Lodge 797, Valley View and the Little Run Sportsman's Club, Tremont.

Tony enjoyed hunting with his favorite son in law. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. You would see him in the blue bug driving the kids around. We will miss Pappy's Uber. Tony loved auctions and antiquing. There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix...he was everyone's handyman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a brother, Michael Smyk.

He is survived by his wife Lorna J (Schrope) Smyk, to whom he was married for 48 years.

He is also survived by three daughters, Hillary B Smyk and her companion Grant Willier of Valley View, Ashley E Smyk and her fiancée Seth Pike of Seattle, WA, and Chelsea R Wetzel and her husband Dustin of Tremont; two granddaughters, Mikaela Rosenberger and Addison Wetzel; a grandson, Daxtyn Wetzel; two brothers, Frank Smyk and his wife Lori of Tower City, and Nicholas Smyk and his wife Martha of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Catherine Reiner of Muir, and Tina Watkins of Hampstead, MD; his mother in law, Grace Schrope of Hegins; several nieces and nephews; his dog, Lola; and his granddogs, Archie and Willow.

Funeral services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 11:00 am.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home.
