After more than a year and a half since the last in-person Lager Jogger, runners were eager to hit the streets of Pottsville for the 2021 edition of the 5K race sponsored by Yuengling.
Just before 8:00am, thousands of people began to descend on Mahantango Street near the Yuengling Brewery for the start of the race.
According to organizers, nearly 2,300 people registered for the race where they could either attend in person or virtually.
Local favorite, Hooligan, provided live music for the pre-race festivities while attendees registered, grabbed a beer, and checked out the vendors.
Due to COVID-19, organizers planned a paced start rather having participants start in waves. This allowed runners and walkers that were participating to start the race anytime between 8:30am and 9:30am.
As is tradition with the event, Jen Yuengling rose above the crowd and greeted racers for the official start.
The fastest participants lined up at the starting line first and at 8:30am, they were on their way through the hilly and challenging course.
In just under 17 minutes, Kyle Price, of Milltown, New Jersey was the first to cross the finish line and be crowned the race's winner.
Awards for the race were handed out at 10:00am with the post-race block party going on until 12:30pm.
