Dorothy Marie Welgo, 86, of Cressona, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.
Born May 12, 1935, in Minersville, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy (Garrett) and Joseph Zelusky.
She was the widow of John Welgo.
She was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School and a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Michelle Archer and Karen and Terri Welgo; siblings, Kay Woll, Margaret "Mimmy" Olexo, Peggy Keller, Elizabeth "Libby" Callaghan and Bobby, Stanley, Francis and Michael Zelusky.
She is survived by her children, Joann Warford, wife of Joseph, Pitman, and David Welgo, Cressona; grandchildren, John Warford, husband of Maki, Pitman, Holly Boxer, wife of Eric, New Ringgold, Chris Warford, husband of Bridgett, Pitman, Jerry Gruwell, Cressona, Brian Archer, Kevin Archer and Olivia Welgo, Cressona; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Patrcia Hume, Shoemakersville; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona, with the Rev. Monsignor Edward S. Zemanik officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Brockton.
Ruth was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1934 to Arthur and Karola Schlumbom. She moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh. She earned a B.A. degree in German and Science (minor) and met the love of her life, Joseph, and was married on July 21, 1956. She worked at St. Francis Hospital as a medical secretary and at Gulf Oil Corporation as a private secretary. She moved to Shenandoah, Pennsylvania and raised three wonderful children while teaching at Cardinal Brennan Jr./Sr. High School for 33 years. There she taught German, Biology, Sciences, and earned the nickname “Die Frau”. Later Ruth taught at the SCI Mahanoy as an adult education/correctional Teacher.
Ruth was known for her activities and memberships in teaching clubs and associations. She is best remembered for her singing as a member of St. Cecilia’s Choir in St. Casimir’s Church, Divine Mercy Parish, and the Schuylkill County Chorale Society and Ensemble. She was a dedicated choir member for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 10:00 am in St. Casimir’s Church, 229 N. Jardin Street, Shenandoah, the sacred worship site of Divine Mercy Parish with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A visitation will be held on Monday morning from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at St. Casimir’s Church, Shenandoah.

Pamela Sue Paul, 56, formerly of Leck Kill and a resident at the Mount Carmel Nursing & Rehab Center passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the nursing center.
Born in Pottsville, on January 6, 1965, she was a daughter of the late Hilbert "Hip" R. and Edith I (Zartman) Paul.
She graduated from the Line Mountain High School.
She was a former member of the Mahantongo Fire Company and attended Himmel's Church functions.
She was a caring Aunt that made sure she knew what was going on with her niece and nephews. She enjoyed reading, poetry, coloring, and driving around the area.
Pamela is also survived by two sisters, Gayle D, wife of Rick Rebuck, of Leck Kill; Linda D Moyer, of Sunbury; as well as a niece and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 1-2 PM at Himmel's Church, 107 Covered Bridge Road, Dornsife. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the Church. Interment will be in Himmel's Cemetery.
