A second hearing has been scheduled by the Butler Township Zoning Board to hear from both sides in regards to a proposed drug and rehab facility.
On Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, a hearing was held at the Fountain Springs Fire Company to allow representatives from FireTree Limited and residents of Butler Township to discuss the proposed sale of the Fountain Springs Country Inn.
The sale of the Inn, located at 52 Country Club Road, near Ashland, to Firetree is being proposed to turn the property into a Drug and Rehab Facility. Firetree says they would like to move their current Pottsville facility to Butler Township.
During the hearing in October, Firetree offered their comments and answered questions from residents on the record before the board. Over 100 township residents attended the hearing with most opposing the sale.
The meeting went on for over 2 hours before the meeting was recessed with a second hearing to be scheduled at a later day.
According to Butler Township Solicitor Brian Urban, a second hearing has now been scheduled in two weeks.
That meeting will take place at the Fountain Springs Fire Company on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 at 6:30pm.
Before the first hearing ends, Firetree's legal counsel rested their side of the case with legal counsel for 15 Butler Township families set to start. There is no word if there will be a vote at the second meeting.
