Speed to Blame for Multi Vehicle Pottsville Crash that Injured Three Including Pedestrian

The Pottsville Police have released details on a crash that injured multiple people including a pedestrian and damaged multiple cars on Saturday.
Pottsville Police say the crash occurred on Saturday, November 6th, around 12:45pm, in the 1700 Block of West Market St for a report of a vehicle accident.

During the investigation it was determined that David Viars, 20, of Pottsville had been traveling west on W Market St, when he lost control of his vehicle, a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, and hit an unoccupied parked 2004 Jeep Liberty which was then pushed by Viars’ vehicle into a 40-year-old Pottsville male pedestrian.

The Jeep then struck another unoccupied parked vehicle, a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, which was forced into a third unoccupied parked vehicle, a 2013 Subaru Impreza. Witnesses reported that Viars was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed.

The pedestrian was treated at the scene by Schuylkill EMS and then transported to a medical facility for further care.

A 19-year-old female passenger and a 19 year old male passenger in Viars’ vehicle were also injured and treated on scene by Schuylkill EMS before being transported to medical facilities.

Three of the vehicles sustained moderate to disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene.
Pottsville Fire Department assisted at the scene.
