Earlier this week, Pine Grove's Head Football Coach announced his resignation.
Frank Gaffney has coached the Cardinals for the past 4 seasons resulting in a results of 17-24 for Pine Grove.
Gaffney officially resigned on Monday and made the announcement official on Tuesday via Twitter:
I have stepped down as head coach of Pine Grove Area. This was a very emotional and tough decision for me. To my entire PGA Family I wanna say thank you. To the players, coaches, fans and administration it’s be my honor. I cannot thank my players enough for what they did.

There is no word at this point on Gaffney's future in the sport.
Pine Grove has already begun to search for a new coach.
"Pine Grove Area will immediately begin searching for the next Football head coach. Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and resume’ to: Mrs. Joanne Brindle, Assistant to the Superintendent, Pine Grove Area School District, 103 School Street, Pine Grove, PA 17963. Candidates will need to provide a PA Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance Check, and FBI Clearance prior to being hired. Position will remain open until filled." the district stated in a release.
