The Blue Mountain School District announced on Saturday that wearing masks in school buildings in now optional.
The announcement comes after the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court ruled to invalidate a mask mandate for K-12 schools and child care facilities in the state. The original mandate was issued by the acting health secretary.
Due to the court ruling, school districts are left with the decision to require masks or not.
Blue Mountain says the new optional mask wearing policy for staff and students will go in effect on Monday, December 13th, 2021.
Per CDC guidelines, masks will still be required for students that ride school buses.
Skook News will continue to monitor other district policies and report when other changes are announced.
