Wood Stove Fire Prompts Response in Locustdale

A wood stove fire prompted a response by firefighters Monday evening.

Around 8:00pm, Monday, emergency personnel were dispatched to 3079 Main Street in Locustdale for a reported house fire.

Firefighters from Lavelle, Ashland, Fountain Springs, Mount Carmel, and East Cameron Township responded and found a wood stove on fire with the house filling with smoke.

The fire extinguished within minutes of arrival and the home was vented with a fan.

According to Lavelle Fire Chief Russ Hummel, firefighters found the chimney to be blocked which led to the fire.  The homeowners were advised to get the chimney cleaned before starting another fire in the wood stove.

Emergency personnel cleared the scene within an hour.
