A new chapter began Monday in Pottsville with the swearing in of the city's new mayor, Dave Clews.
Clews replaced Mayor James Muldowney after he defeating the incumbent in the November General Election.
Prior to the start of Monday's City Council meeting, Mayor Clews was joined by his grandkids while he placed his left hand on the bible and took the oath of office read by Schuylkill County Judge Chris Hobbs.
Also sworn in was Councilman Mark Atkinson (via phone) and Bill Messaros.
Mayor Clews presided over his first council meeting where several resolutions were voted on before adjourning.
"I want instill pride in my hometown, I still believe in neighborhoods and the strength there is in them. I've had a good 2 years on council and I look forward to continuing that in a different chair. We have a lot of positive things and I'm proud to be a part of it." Clews said after the meeting.
