A Frackville man is facing charges after a domestic and altercation with police.
According to Court Documents, on Friday, January 14th, 2022, around 9:15am, Frackville Police were called to a home in the 200 Block of North Balliet Street for a report of a domestic incident.
A witness had called 911 after seeing a woman run from a home with a bloody nose and a male flee the scene in Chevrolet Traverse with a child.
When Officer Kankowski arrived at the home, he found the vehicle parked in front of the home with the man, identified as William Hartman Jr.,34, with his 9 month old son, inside.
When Kankowski approached the car, Hartman refused to get out and fled the scene again, but later returned.
When he arrived back at the home, he exited the car, went inside the home and locked himself with the child inside.
Police from Shenandoah and Butler Township had arrived on scene to assist.
The officers were able to gain access to the home with Hartman refusing to let go of the child. Hartman reportedly pushed chairs and swung the child at police violently as they attempted to communicate with him.
The officers were able to get the child from police but not before the Hartman struck one in the face and grabbed another by the throat..
Hartman was then taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, strangulation, endangering the welfare of children, flight to avoid apprehension, disorderly conduct and harassment.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $15,000 straight cash bail. Hartman posted bail and was released later that day.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled before MDJ Tarantelli on January 19th, 2022.
