A Schuylkill County man is facing DUI charges after being involved in two separate crashes several miles apart.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the first incident occurred around 4:00pm on Friday, January 21st, 2022 in Walker Township.
Police say Allen Meckes, 53, of Barnesville was traveling west on Wildcat Road when he lost control of his Chevrolet Silverado on a right had curve, crossed into the opposite travel lane and struck the rear driver side of a Ford Explorer.
Instead of stopping after the crash, Meckes fled the scene and about 5 miles down the road in Schuylkill Township, he would wreck his truck when he struck a tree head-on.
Police later determined Meckes was driving under the influence and was transported to an area hospital as a precaution. Meckes was also found to be driving with a suspended license.
The driver of the Ford Explorer in the 1st crash was not injured.
