Richard C. Cooper, age 83, of Pottsville, PA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 20th, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital of Bethlehem.

Born in Suedburg, PA on April 18, 1938, he was the son of the late Theodore and Clara (Schnoke) Cooper.

Richard was a graduate of Pine Grove High School, Class of 1956. He worked for D.G. Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville for 43 years until retiring in 2017.

Richard was a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Pottsville. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved going to the casino and camping.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Julie (Matz) Cooper and a brother Robert Cooper.

He is survived by three children: Richard and David Cooper and Lori Wojciechowsky; four grandchildren: Clinton, Joel, Joshua, and Brett; brothers: Jerry, Dale, Gary, Leroy, and Alfred Cooper; a sister Shirley Reichert; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held private.

The Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon is in charge of arrangements.

Barry J. "Jim" Bopp
, 79, of Williamstown, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at UPMC - Pinnacle, Harrisburg.

Born in Lewisburg, March 4 1942, a son of the late Daniel and Arlene Klinger Bopp. Jim was a 1961 graduate of the former Lykens High School.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He was retired from Reiff and Nestor, Lykens.

Jim was of the Lutheran faith and a life member of the Lykens Liberty Hose Company #2. He was a former coach with the Lykens Little Tigers and the Lykens Little League baseball. He was an avid Penn State fan and also enjoyed collecting coins and antiques, playing pool and shooting darts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Arlene Poor, surviving husband Derrick of Kentucky; two half brothers Ralphie Klinger, surviving wife Diane of Lykens and Carl Bopp.

Surviving are two children, James Bopp and his wife Tamara, Newmanstown and Lora Kerwin and her husband Joseph, Lykens. His companion of 23 years, Lin Aukstakalnis with whom he resided, Lin's children, Amy Kobularik and her husband Joe, Tower City and Tony Aukstakalnis and his wife Greer, Williamstown. One brother, Daniel Bopp and his wife Dot, Lykens, one sister; Judy Kleinfelter, New Cumberland, two half-brothers; William Bopp and Gary Bopp and his wife Cathy, Lykens. Nine grandchildren. Nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:30 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-1:30 at the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory should be made to the Liberty Hose Company #2, 553 South Second Street, Lykens PA 17048.

Bernice Hunter, 63, of Cass Twp., passed away Wednesday morning at her home.

Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Ann Jordan. She was a graduate of Pottsville High School and was of the Catholic Faith. She was previously employed at the Lowe’s Warehouse. She was an avid cat lover and volunteered at Reikicats Haven, Shoemakersville, Pa.

Bernice is survive by her husband John Hunter and a brother Joseph Jordan, Schuylkill Haven.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville. The family would prefer remembrances of Bernice in the form of contributions to the Reikicats Haven, 661 Ridge Rd, Shoemakersville, Pa. 19555. Contributions will also be accepted at the Funeral Home.
