As of 1:30pm, Saturday, Interstate 81 Northbound is closed at McAdoo due to a multiple vehicle pile up.
Around 1:15pm, Saturday, emergency personnel were called to the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 139.2 for a multi vehicle crash.
The crash occurred as a heavy snow squall was occurring passing through.
When fire personnel arrived on scene, they reported in about 40 vehicles being involved that included at least 3 tractor trailers.
A handful of injuries were reported but nothing sounded major. Fire and EMS from Schuylkill, Carbon, and Luzerne Counties are at the scene.
Fire personnel have been called to shut down Interstate 81 northbound at the McAdoo exit.
Interstate 81 will be closed for an extended period of time.
