Late Wednesday and early Thursday, gas prices reached $4.00 a gallon in Schuylkill County.
As Russia continues to invade the Ukraine, the uncertainty has caused crude oil to spike to over $100.
According to AAA, “Russia’s invasion and the responding escalating series of financial sanctions by the U.S. and its allies have given the global oil market the jitters,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. “Like the U.S. stock market, the oil market responds poorly to volatility. It’s an explosive situation, and a grim reminder that events on the far side of the globe can have a ripple effect for American consumers.”
Late Wednesday, as some gas stations changed their price of regular gas to $3.99, some jumped right past that to $4.19 a gallon.
As of midday Thursday, officials say we would see prices even high by this time next week.
