A man was found safe after emergency personnel responded to a search and rescue Friday morning in Ashland.
Just after 10:00am Friday, police, fire, and EMS responded to a home on Centre Street in Ashland for a report of a man in his 70's that had gone missing. The man had left a suspicious note and left behind his vehicle.
Command was moved to the area of the Pioneer Tunnel due to the male having a history of walking and hunting in the wooded area nearby.
Approximately 25-30 emergency personnel responded and split up into teams to search the wooded area as the borough itself.
Within a half hour of searching and with the help of ATV's, crews were able to search a trail behind the Pioneer Tunnel and found the victim laying along a path with minor injuries and unable to walk.
Fire and EMS transported the victim out of the woods to a waiting ambulance.
By noon, all crews had cleared the scene.
Responding to the scene were Northumberland County Search and Rescue, American Hose Company, Washington Fire and Ambulance, Rangers Hose Company, Fountain Springs Fire, Shenandoah Ambulance, Area Services, along with Ashland Police, and Butler Township Police.
