Kenneth Robert Smith, Sr., 89, of Pine Grove, PA and formerly of Tamaqua, PA, died on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.Born in McKeansburg, PA on December 14, 1932, he was a son of the late Roy Smith and Edith (Wagner) Smith-Stamm. A 1951 graduate of the former Cressona High School, Kenneth served in the Army during the late 50’s and early 60’s and had been stationed in Germany. Before his retirement in 1992, he was employed as a mechanic with the former J. E. Morgan Knitting Mills. Kenneth was a devoted Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State fan and enjoyed following all the Tamaqua High School sporting events. He especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of his life.
Kenneth is survived by sons, Kenneth R. Smith, Jr. and his wife Betty Louise of Pine Grove and Jason A. Smith and his wife Kelly A. of Vernon Hills, IL; daughter, Kay A Morgan and her husband, Troy W. of Tower City, PA; grandchildren, Jennifer, Joel, Matthew, Drew, and Claire; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Donald Smith and his wife Barbara of New Ringgold, PA, Bill Smith and his wife Jean of Indiana, Marty Smith and his wife Candy of Benton, PA, Mary Jane Loy and her husband Dale of Manassas, VA, and Ruth Ann Klinger and her husband John of Fort Meyers, FL; and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by a brother, Jim Smith.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 1, 2022, with Kenneth’s son Jason Smith officiating. Call 9-11 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA will take place later.
Arrangements are being handled by the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Tamaqua.
Michael F. Sinko, 67, of Minersville, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Arrangements will be announced by the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, Minersville.
