On Saturday, the Ashland Little League opened their 2022 season.
The day started with their annual parade which began at Hoffman Boulevard and travelled up Centre Street to 17th Street, then back to Eureka Park.
At the field, the season was officially opened as all of their Little League, Farm, and Tee Ball teams gathered on the field.
The 2021 Ashland All Stars were recognized for their District 24 championship last year along with their coaches.
An Ashland tradition was continued with the presentation of the Mark Trautman award. The award is given to a player from the league that displays team focus, attitude, being a role model, sportsmanship, and integrity. The award was presented to Joey Groody.
New for the 2022 season was a new scoreboard that donated to the league from CACL Financial Credit Union. The new scoreboard allows the display of pitch counts.
The season could not start without a first pitch. That honor went to Ashland Fire Chief Philip Groody.
