Pottsville Police arrested a man last week for allegedly holding a woman against her will and assaulting her for two days.
According to Pottsville Police Chief Richard Wojciechowksy, on March 27, 2022, at approximately 1:30pm, Pottsville Police investigated a reported assault that had begun in a private residence in the 900 block of W. Market Street on March 25, 2022.
Officers interviewed a 22-year-old Pottsville woman who reported that Joshua Manuel Marsh, 27, no known address, had come to her home on that date and subsequently held her against her will while physically assaulting her for two days.
The female victim told police that during that time frame Marsh had punched and kicked her, bitten her, dragged her by the hair, and threatened to kill her while holding scissors to her neck. These acts occurred while the woman’s two young children were in the home as well.
The woman further reported that Marsh had taken her cell phone so she could not contact anyone and physically stopped her from leaving the residence until finally allowing her to leave for a laundromat at which time the woman was able to contact police.
Police officers located Marsh still inside the woman’s residence and he was taken into custody. During a search incident to arrest Marsh was found to be in possession of methamphetamines.
A criminal complaint was prepared by Ptl Anna Flail charging Marsh with Aggravated Assault, Terroristic Threats, Unlawful Restraint, Simple Assault, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Marsh was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli who set bail at $100,000 straight cash.
Marsh, who was free on bail for pending federal charges at the time of the incident, was unable to post bail and incarcerated at the Schuylkill County Prison.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 6th, 2022 before Magisterial District Judge Reiley.
