A Pottsville man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after a short pursuit on Route 61.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, just before midnight, Troopers attempted to pull over a Kia Optima at the intersection of Ann Street and Oak Street in Saint Clair, for a traffic violation.
The driver, Jaden Baines, 20, of Pottsville, failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. Baines drove erratically northbound on Route 61 at a high rate of speed until he lost control causing a minor crash.
Baines then began to flee on foot but was detained shortly after.
When he custody, he was found to be in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Baines was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli on charges of fleeing and eluding police, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, flight to avoid apprehension, and numerous traffic violations.
Baines was locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $75,000 straight cash bail.
