This past weekend, the Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5K returned to it's normal spring-time schedule drawing thousands to Pottsville.
CK Running, the organizers of Lager Jogger, has not held the event during it's normal Spring/April timeframe since 2019 due to COVID. In 2020, the event was held virtually and in 2021 the event was held in October after positive case numbers came down.
But now in 2022, everything is returning normal along the only 5K that begins and ends at America's Oldest Brewery.
This year's race drew almost 2,400 participants from around the country.
Vendors lined Mahantongo Street near the Brewery Gift Shop where a beer garden was also set up with Hooligan providing music and entertainment.
A pre-race stretch was held 15 minutes prior to start time by Schuylkill Racquet and Fitness.
Participants started the race in waves roughly 2 minutes apart beginning their long trek up Mahantango Street, some opting to walk the course.
Just as the last participants were leaving the gate, the race winner, Kyle Price, of New Jersey, was finishing the race in 18 minutes and 30 seconds.
For the next hour, participants would return after completing the over 3 mile route and enjoy a free Lager.
Once the race was complete, participants met beside the brewery where Dick Yuengling handed out the awards including race winner Price and overall female winner Ryley Schwalm, of Schuylkill County. Both received one of a kind Yuengling trophies.
