On Wednesday, Marian Catholic High School named Scott Murphy as its new Head Boys’ Basketball Coach.
Coach Murphy brings over a decade of coaching experience, including being an assistant coach for six seasons at North Schuylkill from 2010-2015, in Division 1 of the Schuylkill League competing against perennial powers Blue Mountain and Pottsville.
In between his time at North Schuylkill, Coach Murphy has been an integral part of the Marian Catholic Boys Basketball program from 2005-2010 as an assistant helping guide the Colts to the 2009-2010 District XI Class A Championship, and again in 2021-2022, serving as the Junior Varsity Coach this past season.
In addition to his coaching experience, Coach Murphy and his family are active members in the community. Scott, his wife Wendy, and eight-year-old son Mason are involved in many local activities including the Tamaqua Area Baseball Association and other local church and community functions.
"The Marian Catholic administration is thrilled to have Coach Murphy lead the boys’ basketball program." the school said.
