Schuylkill League Dominates Colonial League in Inaugural All Star Football Game

The Schuylkill League All Star Football Team had no problems handling the Colonial League All Stars during their Inaugural Spring Game.

Organizers hope to make the game a yearly tradition.

The teams met Saturday at Schuylkill Haven's field with temperatures in the mid 90's.

The Schuylkill League team included players from Pottsville, North Schuylkill, Jim Thorpe, Tri-Valley, Pine Grove, Nativity BVM, Schuylkill Haven, Minersville, Blue Mountain, Williams Valley, and Lehighton.

The Colonial League Team included players from Catasauqua, Wilson, Northwestern Lehigh, Pen Argyl, Palmerton, Saucon Valley, Notre Dame Green Pond, Salisbury, Palisades, and Southern Lehigh.

The Schuylkill League start off the game receiving the ball and score on their opening drive.

The Colonial League would answer right back with a score of their own but miss the field goal. This would be their only score for the game.

By halftime, the score would be 21-6 Schuylkill League.

The Schuylkill League defense would not let up and had multiple interceptions throughout the game.

After battling it out in the summer like heat all afternoon, the Schuylkill League came out on top 28-6.

The Defensive lineman of the game for the Colonial League was awarded to Josh Hoffert from Notre Dame of Green Pond.

The Defensive Lineman of the game for the Schuylkill League was awarded to Jackson Yoder from Williams Valley.

The MVP for the game for the Colonial League was awarded to Lucas Heydt from Palmerton.

The MVP for the game for the Schuylkill League was awarded to Jazce Carabello-Snowell from Pottsville.

When all was said and done, the Schuylkill League Players and Coaches held up their Coal filled trophy with hopes to win again next year.

The 2023 game is scheduled to take place at Palmerton.

Saturday's game was sponsored by the Famous Reading Outdoors, Titan Threadsz, Garland Communications, St. Luke's Health Network, Losch Services, DBR Industrial Sevices, and the Funding Zone.

Prior to Saturday's game, a Specialist/Kicking Contest was held. North Schuylkill's Gavin Mentzer won with Reese Felty from Schuylkill Haven and Carson Steinruck taking second and third respectfully.
