“Our corrections officers put their safety on the line to keep us all safe from dangerous criminals every day,” said Senator Argall. “We must ensure that their constitutional right of due process is not violated when they are accused of wrongdoing.”
Senator Argall introduced this bill after eight corrections officers were suspended without pay and benefits for almost a year without the ability to ask questions or to defend themselves.
Senate Bill 569 requires specific procedures for suspensions and interrogations when an officer is accused of misconduct. The bill now heads to the state House of Representatives for its consideration.
