A Sobriety Checkpoint in Cressona on Friday led to multiple arrests.
According to State Police Sgt. Thomas Hornung of the Schuylkill Haven Barracks, Troopers conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Friday, June 24th, 2022 on Route 183/Sillyman Street in Cressona.
As a result of the DUI checkpoint, approximately 132 motorists were contacted. Out of those contacted, 6 were tested for DUI, 3 were arrested for suspicion of DUI, and one was arrested for possession of drugs. A total of 1 warning and 11 citations were issued.
The Sobriety Checkpoint was part of an effort by the Schuylkill Haven Barracks to increase DUI Patrols over the months of June and July.
The goal of a sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related fatal crashes, and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania highways.
