Firefighters from Schuylkill County responded to Northumberland County to help with a large scrap yard fire late Monday.
Around 11:00pm, Monday, emergency personnel were called to SOS Metals along Route 54 in Mount Carmel Township near Strong and Atlas for reported trash fire.
Fire crews arrived to find a pile of scrap metal fully engulfed.
Schuylkill County units from Lavelle, Fountain Springs, Ringtown, and Girardville were called to the scene to assist with hauling water to the scene.
Firefighters were on scene for several hours putting water on the fire until clearing the scene early Tuesday.
The fire was contained to the scrap pile. No word on what caused the fire.
