Let’s hope the third time is a charm for the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Super Late Model Series. Two other times the series was scheduled to appear at Big Diamond Speedway but both dates were postponed due to the wrath of Mother Nature. This Friday, the weather looks promising as the series looks to show off their talents in Schuylkill County for a winner’s share of $3,500.
The series is led by Jared Smiley who is the current points leader followed closely by Greg Satterlee, Dave Stamm and Rick Eckert. Satterlee must be considered the favorite with the most wins on the series as of last weekend. I know the fans have been looking forward to the Super Late Models since it was announced in 2021 that they would make their way to Big Diamond, let’s all hope that it finally happens this Friday night.
With last week’s Insigner Performance Modified race being a show-up points event, the standings remained the same with Duane Howard leading the way with a mere five-point advantage over Brett Kressley. Both drivers possess two wins this season at Big Diamond and with last week's sparks between the two rivals, Friday night’s racing could become very interesting.
The USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman will once again be on the card as Brandon Edgar looks to extend his points lead over Danny Buccafusca and Logan Watt. These three drivers have accounted for a total six wins in 2022 and have set themselves apart from the rest of the field right now. But drivers such as Talan Carter and James Costlow who each have a win this season along with drivers Matt Yoder, Kyle Kania, Daryl Dissinger and others will be looking to thrust themselves into the mix as well.
The Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner division has become a battle of the big three. Mike Reichert currently has a nice point lead over Alex Scoffstall and Andrew Fayash III but the bulk of the wins have gone to Schoffstall and Fayash III. Reichert has been a model of consistency all season long by rarely finishing out of the top three with a win thrown in. Last Friday it was Jim Kost getting his first win after an epic battle with Reichert.
Pit gates will open this Friday at 5:00 pm with Grandstand gates opening at 5:30 pm
